Sitka Spruce Tea Altar with Caramel Tile Inlay
Description
Sitka Spruce hardwood tea altar with hand-painted caramel 2"x2" tile inlay featuring a variegated glaze and substantial shade variation. The color transitions organically from a bright, golden amber-mustard yellow in the centers to a deep, dark burnt caramel brown toward the edges.
This specific style of warm, earth-toned variegated tile is highly characteristic of Mid-Century Modern studio pottery, similar to vintage Marshall Studios or European studio work from the 1960s and 70s, where artists deliberately used reactive glazes to achieve a organic, handcrafted look.
This handmade piece serves as an intentional altar platform for tea, matcha, of coffee preparation. Altar can also serve as a designated space for teaware, daily ritual pieces, or moments of delight. Two small pockets offer space for a bamboo tea whisk holder, small vase, japanese incense bowl, and/or small tea cups.
Tiled surface has a high gloss finish and can be wiped clean with warm water.
